With more than 20,000 runners cheered on by thousands of spectators, the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is one of the largest combined marathon and half marathons in the USA and has become one of the main Austin Texas US events.  

Mid March

 

In 28 years, the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences and Festivals in Austin have grown from a tiny music festival into one of the biggest conferences and festivals in the nation. Offering the latest and greatest in the music, film and interactive worlds, as well as performances by over 2,000 bands from across the globe, this event takes place at the Austin Convention Center, numerous venues and more than 100 stages throughout central Austin.

Late April

 

Showcasing some of Texas’ most talented and famous chefs and restauranteurs, the Austin FOOD & WINE Festival is presented by FOOD & WINE Magazine and is dedicated to promoting the treasures of the Central Texas food and wine community. The Austin FOOD & WINE Festival is open to all food and wine lovers but not those under the age of 21. 

Early October

 

One of the country's largest celebrations of live music, this two weekend, six-day festival brings the magic of the famed public TV series "Austin City Limits" outside the studio and into Austin's most beloved park. More than 150 musical acts will take over eight stages along with local food vendors, brewers, artists and pop-up shops and artists. 

Early December

 

A family favorite each year, the Zilker Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony features the popular 120 foot wide Zilker tree standing more than 150 feet tall and decorated with over 3,300 Christmas lights and a giant star that is over ten feet wide. Fun includes eating too much candy and kettle corn, and singing carols.
